Speaker Bio:
Ashok Kulkarni is a Senior Technical Marketing Manager for verification products at Synplicity. His sixteen years experience includes both semiconductor and EDA industry in ASIC design, Applications Support, ASIC Consulting and Technical Marketing. He has worked for Synopsys, Cadence and Semi-Custom Logic in various roles. Mr. Kulkarni holds an MSEE from Louisiana State University and an MSEE from Bombay University.

Title: Elan5 Network Processor

Abstract:
The Elan 5 is a single chip network processor which acts as a Host Bus Adpater (HBA) for high speed network protocols. In the initial implementation it is capable of handling both 10Gb Ethernet, and a proprietary protocol developed for ultra low latency communication in High Performance Computing applications. In order to provide flexibility in the choice of protocols the device is implemented as an array of identical RISC processors, which can be dedicated to tasks such as input packet handling and host memory DMA handling.
